View all

Press Release

The Sacramento Transportation Authority (STA) is providing this update to inform
financing partners and the broader market regarding recent public actions related to the
I Street Bridge Replacement Project and STA’s planned competitive procurement of a
revolving Line of Credit (LOC) up to $95 million, backed by Measure A, to support
construction-period cash flow.

The I Street Bridge Replacement Project is a regionally significant transportation project
that will replace the existing I Street Bridge with a new multimodal crossing over the
Sacramento River, improving safety, reliability, and connectivity between Sacramento
and West Sacramento. The project is currently soliciting construction bids, with a
construction contract award anticipated in Spring 2026 and subject to Sacramento City
Council approval.
Recent financing-related actions:

August 14, 2025 – Initial Plan Approval

The Sacramento Transportation Authority (STA) Governing Board approved the initial
plan framework related to financing the I Street Bridge Replacement Project. This action
authorized staff to begin developing a financing agreement to manage construction
period cash flow needs associated with reimbursement based state and federal funding.

February 20, 2026 – Line of Credit Solicitation Approval

The STA Governing Board approved a solicitation for a revolving Line of Credit (LOC).
This approval authorizes STA to competitively evaluate LOC proposals to support
interim project costs during construction. Any selection of a lender and final LOC
agreement will be subject to future STA Governing Board approval.
These actions reflect continued coordination among STA, the City of Sacramento, the
City of West Sacramento, and regional and state partners needed for delivering
largescale transportation projects.
